Err, Portland show cancelled as of when, did (s)he say? Could be something completely innocuous (scheduling conflicts, ticket sales, travel problems). Schedules almost always get changed during tours. I get the feeling it might have been "off" or "in question" for a little while, though, because, while it's listed as a date on http://www.dailyllama.com/ it isn't listed at http://www.pythonline.com/eric_idle.html at all. Might have been there before and been removed, but it isn't there now. And I could think of a couple of reasons the tour might have been cancelled/postponed/rearranged. I've been following Eric's tour diary, and he says they've been having trouble with the, uh, facilities on board the bus. As they're living on the buses at this point, they have to, shall we say, hold it? Or, I guess the more likely possibility would be his foot. Eric's also taking medication for his foot pain (steroids), which doesn't appear to be gout. He said he was a wee bit fuzzy in a recent show because of the medication and skipped a whole sketch (which, frankly, anyone who's ever been in a play/show can relate, steroids or no...), so it could be he decided to cancel or shuffle dates, IF in fact, the east coast dates have been cancelled. Could be he decided to postpone performing until he recovers. But I've seen nothing "official" to that effect, so I wouldn't panic just yet. I'm sure if all the east coast dates were to go because of illness/technical/bus loo difficulties, they would probably reschedule if possible. Disappointing for the fans if they reschedule, but less disappointing for the fans to reschedule than to try to put on a show without the lead for some reason! By the way, I do recommend the tour diary. Quite funny reading.
