While Michael Palin is testifying, there is almost uncontrollable laughter from 
the audience as he is thrashing about with his truncheon (nightstick). That's 
funny in itself, bacause it appears to be made of rubber. But that certainly 
can't explain why the audience is laughing so hard. Could it have been 
something off-camera?
