Right now her councelling is paid for by the state....and I need to fill out yet another round of forms to see if she can be paid her lost wages. Like so many gubmint programs, it's mis-managed. The Rape Crisis Center showed up at the ER, calmed her down and gave her some clothes...but didn't tell her abount the entire Crime Victim bill. The police gave her a handout about the bill, and suggested she might want to get her councelor to call the Housing authority about emergency housing. The Housing agency said they had no emergerncy housing....everything was on a wait list basis...and since she had moved back with me(a different sub-division), she wasn't eligable for housing assistance. Workman's comp said she couldn't collect because it wasn't job related, and Unimployment agreed that while she was out of work, it wasn't caused by her employer(Good thing they didn't say it was her fault). Needless to say, by the time I showed up at the management apartment office, I had no problems convincing them that she should be allowed to get out of the lease with no penalties. It goes on and on, and I think she's getting better, as I overheard her tell one of her friends, "Things are getting as weird as the stuff my Dad writes." Sorry to go on....but it's just a classic example of how we can stumble all over ourselves and not come up with reaonable and effective problem solving. cya, thom baltimoremd@baltimoremd.com http://www.tlchost.net/echolist/ --- GEcho 1.20/Pro * Origin: Home of The Other Robot (1:261/1352) .
