Morning Everyone,

I've been quietly reading this echo for a while & for the benefit of
those who do not know me my household has been associated with FIDOnet
for over a decade - myself personally for over 8 years. I'm no FIDOnet
newbie...

While it's all good & well to keep the FIDOnet's tradition of flaming
alive & well I really can't help but wonder if the level of bickering
I've seen here is actually helping FIDOnet die.

As moderators we ought to be setting examples of acceptable behavior. &
I've noticed that FIDOnet usually attracts certain kinds of very
intelligent people - unfortunately many with this level of intelligence
there is also those with the people skills of a gnat. 
 
Now I'm not going to come over all "Fluffy Bunny" like <aside - looks at
those snickering> but I think if there's any chance to keep FIDOnet more
than just on life support I think we need to adopt some face saving
"middle ground". I, for one, don't know if I really want to see FIDOnet
relegated to the field of "quaint technological oddities" like Moores
Code, Ham & CB Radios & the like - along with the multiple of negative
images associated with their loyal supporters.
