I used to run a flame echo for FurNet.  My rules led off with a quote from A. 
Bertram Chandler's Commodore Grimes "This is Liberty Hall where you can spit on 
the mat and call the cat a bastard."  :->  What was really funny was how often 
people would take possibly incindiary discussions there so they wouldn't have 
to keep their cool, then proceed to have them in a perfectly orderly, calm 
manner.  

I do have a history of ending rules sets with something like "If anybody comes 
up with a new and improved method of annoying everybody else, I reserve the 
right to make a rule to fit the occasion." which seems to have caught on in a 
lot of places. :->
