Subj : Texas Rangers To : Joe Siegler From : Steve Quarrella Date : Wed Feb 28 2001 02:54 pm js> Well, you and I attended two Rangers games at Arlington js> Stadium in 1993. I don't have any memories of the games Hard to believe, isn't it? js> who was there. I don't suppose you remember either of the js> dates we went, do you Steve? I mean down to the Month and day? No, I can't. I know I have the remnants of one ticket stub around here somewhere, but even then, I can't guarantee that that was a game that you attended with us, given that Suzy and I went to a few games without you. I -believe- you were with us when we saw the Rangers and the Tigers, as that's usually a special event for me, though it came to a halt after the "birthday present" I got of two tickets to Tigers/Rangers games that were interrupted by tornadoes (Lancaster/Hutchins/Desoto tornado) or high winds that were suspected of being tornadoes getting ready to bite us. js> I heard A-Wad the day after he signed. Still funny. The way js> I look at that is this. My personal comprehension of money js> and my own salary is so microscopic to what baseball salaries js> are, it doesn't bother me. Whehter they make half a mil, 1 js> mil, 2 mil, 5 mil, 10 mil, 20 mil, 50 mil, or 100 mil a year js> - it's all monopoly money to me. Sure they're millioniares - Not like you or I will ever see that kind of cash. My only gripe is that it becomes more and more expensive to see sporting events these days, thanks to the collective greed mentality that's floating out there. I have a cynical viewpoint about this: Last year, when my company's Exchange server blew up, I didn't see anybody paying me A-Rod's salary to get the server back up and runnning, despite information on it that would have cost the company millions of dollars had it been lost. Of course, it's not very entertaining to watch a guy fix his pub and his priv databases, either. js> duh. Who doesn't know that? I care about the game on the js> field - not the dough they get paid. I care when they're paid a lot of dough and they don't come through. Sorry to go on about the basketball thing, but as an example, Steve Nash was booed every time he got the ball in many games last season. He was being compensated well enough, and he sucked. I don't think it's unrealistic for any fan to be annoyed that their "great on paper" team sucks, so hopefully A-Rod will come through and make everybody happy. --- * Origin: Il Vaticano * Argyle, TX (1:393/9005.13) .
