Steve was waived by Sparky Anderson and then ranted:

He got the job because the owners wanted one of their own in the job. They knew 
that despite everything, Selig would do what was best for them.

They and KC used to be the farm clubs for the Yankees. Now, that isn't the 
case.

If Steinbrenner hadn't felt the pressure to not sign Jeter for as much as he 
didn't, the bar would have been much lower for A-Rod. I feel for Steinbrenner 
because everyone blames him for baseball's ills and clearly, he has NEVER been 
one to overpay like others.
