I am curious to know:  How does the HOF justify Ty Cobb's existence if they 
can't justify Pete Rose's?  After all, Cobb admitted to pistol whipping someone 
to death (although I recall someone has since refuted this), and he wasn't a 
very nice man himself, having fought with just about everybody around him, and 
he and Tris Speaker both had the taint of game-fixing on their records by the 
time they finished their careers.

On the Nolan Ryan front, I was lucky enough to attend the ceremonies where they 
retired his number.  What a great guy.  Oddly, the only time I ever saw him 
pitch was in a game in Detroit, where our Rangers were the visiting team (they 
always seem to be in town when I go back home).
