Well, I'm a Tigers fan, born in Detroit, so I still root for them, first and 
foremost, even if they suck right now. :-)  I was a kid right as the dust was 
settling from the '68 series, and of course, got to live through the Roar of 
'84.  I don't know that I'd get as excited about the Rangers, even if they won 
two championships, as it's hard to give up your ol' childhood team, if that 
means anything.

Preaching to the choir.  I get a little tired of the media adulation some days.

I never quite understood how he managed to manoeuvre himself into the 
commissionership.  Might as well let one of the players be commissioner, no?  
IIRC, Selig no longer has a stake in the Brewers, but doesn't his daughter?

Hell, we used to laugh at the Indians all the time when I was a kid.  You know 
you're in bad shape when the fans of the -fifth place- team laugh at you (ISTR 
that Toronto and Cleveland were perpetually behind us :).

Personally, I think the whole thing is a Frankenstein's monster that's gotten 
away. :-/
