Subj : World Series To : Steve Quarrella From : Joe Siegler Date : Fri Nov 09 2001 12:23 pm -> the Series. After that, it was "I'm tired of the Yankees." I think that's pretty much the feeling most everywhere except New York. -> BTW, Suzy has a niece who lives in Phoenix. We're going to see if we can -> get her to get us some goodies. I'm still pissed off that my 1984 WS stuff -> vanished into the ether some years ago. I have a Diamondbacks hat which I was wearing all during the World Series. :) -> Other than a certain pitcher by the name of "Kim." I still don't understand -> why Brenly didn't put him in during the blowout in game six, to let him get -> his composure back after those two blown saves. Probably because that wouldn't do anything for him, I would think. -> Well, it ain't their fault that the same teams are good and the same teams -> suck. Since you follow the Rangers, what are your thoughts about their -> finally getting a grip, with this new general manager? Well, the new guy hasn't done anything yet, so it's hard to judge. I always said I wanted this guy, although I was a fan of Doug Melvin, too. The fun things now come with the off season fracas that's already started. Ignoring the legal challenges, I personally would like to see just about all of this happen.. The Expos go away The Twins go away The Diamondbacks move from the NL West to the AL West The Texas Rangers move from the AL West to the AL Central, replacing the Twins The Pittsburgh Pirates move from the NL Central to the NL East, replacing the Expos. Carl Pohlad (Twins owner) gets bought out, and goes away The owner of the Expos (forget name) would become the owner of the Marlins The current owner of the Marlins would become owner of the Angels, whom Disney has been trying to sell for the last couple of years. That would make the West divisions 4 teams, as well as the central & east teams 5 teams each again. MLB has until the start of next season to move the Diamondbacks & the Devil Rays to the other league without their permission - it was part of their agreement when they came into the league back in 1998. That sets up the interesting scenario of the defending NL Champs being in the AL for the following season. Also, brings up the issue of the managers of the 02 All Star game. Usually the defending champion manager is the manager of the All Star game. Brenly could be managing the NL team against his own players in the AL. :) Now having said this, I do NOT want the Twins to go away. If anything, move 'em back to DC and be the Senators again. I would much rather the Devil Rays go away than the Twins. However, that would screw up the scenario I want above. Also, MLB doesn't seem to want to piss off the Bush brothers (Jeb in Fla, and Dubya in the WH) by removing one of the Florida teams. BTW, the day they annoucned all this, I ran out to the Ballpark in Arlington and bought myself a Marlins, Expos, & Devil Rays hat - if these guys go away, you can bet your ass their merchandise will be hard to come by. Wanted a hat of theirs before I couldn't get it anymore. One other thing, Steve.. How many echoes are there where you and I are pretty much the only conversations going? :) Joe --- QScan/PCB v1.20a / 01-0074 * Origin: The Arsenal of Freedom - From the land of ARod! (1:124/9006) .
