About a dozen fans fell 3 feet onto the field next to the Texas dugout, eight minutes prior to the start of the game against the Baltimore Orioles. Seven fans who sustained cuts and abrasions were treated by the stadium nurse. Rodriguez, who signed a record $252 million, 10-year contract with the Rangers during the off-season, was not injured. "I knew who was out there. As soon as I saw him come around the corner, I felt a whole lot better," Texas manager Johnny Oates said. "Don't get me wrong, I didn't want fans to get hurt, either." A snow fence replaced the chain-link fence, delaying the game a couple of minutes at the start. The chain-link fence at Charlotte County Stadium is expected to be repaired in time for the Rangers' game on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. --- * Origin: Fnord (1:393/9005) .
