Okay,

I have this thing that goes on in my  life.  Right before I'm going to
do something or there's going to be some change in my life that either
is going to keep me from some sort of trouble, or that's going to make
me extra *vulnerable* to some sort of trouble, the trouble always
happens.

Here's an example:  I was on my bicycle searching the piles of discarded
household items when my city used to have an event they called "spring
cleanup". I would go out and recycle bicycle parts--why not? Better than
letting them be dragged to a dump and buried, right?

I  finally found the dynamo/light set I'd been looking for.

Guess who got a ticket for no light on the way home from locating that
to get the tools needed to remove it without breaking it?

That's the story of my life.  Is there some sort of magical incantation
that would end this pattern?  I can suck-it-up and go on living like
this. I'm sort of used to it by now.

Recently I felt like something bad was coming down the line for months.
Finally it happened--I was assaulted but got *arrested* for the assault.
Even worse, all the witnesses were on my assailant's side.
