Don't want to start a flame war here, but why would you choose such a
platform specific (and bloody expensive) way of serving up pages for the
game.  Perl _is_ compilable, its excruciatingly portable from OS to OS (I
really wouldn't be surprised if there was even perl for amigas.. not that it
would be used in this instance.

Personally I would choose C or C++ first then Perl, but nothing else. 
Well..  pascal would work too, but its not as portable.
