Subj : New Version? To : Shannon Talley From : Michael Preslar Date : Mon Mar 26 2001 11:50 am -> I suppose you get this asked allot... How about a "web" based version -> Perhaps using ASP or it's own "database" server program of sorts..? Theres already a weblord in development.. Being done in java.. yeah, i know.. java can be nasty.. heres why java was used.. asp, php, perl, etc cant be compiled, and thus arent dsitributable.. being a commercial program, cant give out the source and all.. java can be.. the other languages also cant do persistant connections, and thus internode activity cant be done.. java can do that too. Will the web version be able to run on public webservers such as geocities, angelfire, and the like? no.. the program needs to create files, which public servers wont allow for.. the server also needs to run the weblord server.. meaning, you have to have your own webserver to run it.. it runs on nix, windows, mac, and os2.. soo, most everyone can run it (sorry amiga people.. heh) time to get back to dinner :) --- ViaMAIL!/WC v1.60d * Origin: Chowdanet (401-331-5587) telnet://chowdanet.com (1:323/120) .
