Subj : LORD and SBBS 3.12 To : ALL From : Daryl Stout Date : Sun Aug 28 2005 08:36 am Earlier this year, I switched from GT Power to Synchronet software, so I could add telnet access to the dial-up. Thankfully, I was able to keep Legend Of The Red Dragon online. When I was using Synchronet 3.10 (the first release I used), L.O.R.D. 4.06 ran just fine...game, IGMs, etc. But, when I upgraded to Synchronet 3.12...L.O.R.D. slowed down in the game...most markedly whenever the regular game (outside of the IGM) got to every prompt. I understand that there was no change in Synchronet's FOSSIL driver...and whether I tell LORD to lock the comport or not (that data really doesn't matter under Synchronet telnet)...the slowness at every prompt with reading messages or after killing someone in the forest continues...and it is getting quite aggravating. Users have complained, and I have noticed this slowness as well. I've even heard from other Synchronet Sysops complaining about the same problem. The IGMs that I use work as before...even though some may take a bit longer than other IGMs that I have to load. But, once loaded, they work just fine. Speaking of IGMs, if you run Synchronet and L.O.R.D., give LORDCFG a locked comport rate anyway...even though the Synchronet documentation tells you not to do so. By setting a locked comport rate, Ken Weitzel's IGMs will run. I have 14 of his IGMs, 14 by Donald Tidmore, 3 by Nannette Thacker, 1 by Marty Blankenship, and 8 others. I have been reluctant to upgrade to 4.07 while it is in beta, or use beta IGMs...mainly because of health concerns leaving me little time for BBS work. If anyone can provide assistance on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. --- þ OLX 1.53 þ How long do you have to practice your profession?? --- SBBSecho 2.10-Win32 * Origin: The Thunderbolt BBS 501-223-2541 wx1der.dyndns.org (1:382/33) .
