Ah! Of course, you're right - looks like me and BC both read Dot's Q. 
wrongly...

To answer the original Q., I understand some of the more expensive LAN 
solutions (Such as LANTastic) can do this, but whether they then make 
the modem available to dos apps is something else again.

OS/2 shares modems, does it not? As does Unix? 

Windows has always been a little weak in this kind of area. :(
