I have an excellent ipchains script (I used it for rc.firewall) that a friend 
wrote for me.  It was really tight-wouldn't let anything in.  If anyone is 
interested, I'll post it in here.

For my personal system, I use Tiny Personal Firewall on the main system 
(server, if you will).

I'm in the market for a new hub too.  My 10/100 hub fried... :(
