I've just had some good experience setting up two Coyote dialup firewalls. http://coyotelinux.com. I had two Compaq 575s for which I had paid $15 each. 16mb P75s, I think. They had no hard drives and I had no luck installing hard drives. However, they made excellent floppy based firewalls. After I had success setting up the firewall/gateway for my all Linux network, I gave the other Compaq to a friend who had almost as much success. He has some win nodes on his network (don't know for sure whether 95 or 98). His only problem is that his browser seems to keep the demand dial ppp connection up with activity. Can anyone guess what this activity is? Or make suggestions on how to identify it?
