Replying to a message of David Gonzalez to Sean Dennis: DG> No problemo at all my man, the thing is that i'm trying to set up a DG> domestic network here at home and well i got 2 pcs one with W2k and DG> the other with Win Me but i havent'd been able to meke that net work DG> any comments or links to tutorials or courses FREE ones?. Hmm, you do know that it's built in (the help) for Windows 2000 and ME? I ran both (I no longer am running Windows-OS/2 and Red Hat Linux now), but what you can do in ME and 2000 is go into the Windows help and search for "Internet Connection Sharing". You'll need to install ICS on the main machine to get everything to work, as ICS is the gateway software. Be wary of 2K's ICS-it is very tricky and requires permissions for each individual program. I never really messed with it too much-I ran ME mainly-so you might want to ask around. But, the help IS in there, especially in ME. Word to the wise: ME will only allow a total of five computers networked to it. I don't know why, but that's the internal limit. If you're only going to use two PCs, just get two NICs and a crossover cable (make sure it's a crossover-the wires are reversed in each end so you don't have to use a hub). However, I'd strongly suggest making the investment in a small four or five-port hub (I can get one here for US$30 at a local store). It makes it a lot faster to add computers into the network. A word to the wise: if you ever install OS/2 and are using a Linksys card, you'll notice that the drivers that come in the factory disk aren't right. I have the correct OS/2 drivers here in my filebase available for FREQ. In closing, the help you need is more than likely in Windows ME's "Home Networking" section. I do believe there's a link to it when you open My Computer. Just take your time-it's actually quite simple to get two Windows systems talking. I'm learning now how to get my Linux server to talk to my OS/2 (BBS) machine.
