Smile, it's actually a matter of the metal used in some of them. For simple 
almost home-use levels, the cheaper tool is fine.  The 'professional one' has 
far more life-span and often handles far more types of connectors.

There was a really sweet one we had 2 of on the ship I was last stationed on. 
It was basically a multi-purpose 'connector tool' able to handle BNC, RJ+ 
types, and fiber stripping (included the measuring gauges too) and fit in a 
back pocket.  Dang thing was indestructable tempered metal.  Dunno who made it 
but at 100$ or so, it was wort it's weight in gold and we techies who had to 
use the tool day-in-day-out knew it was worth every penny.  We saved a lot of 
man-hours (man-hours=$$$$) by not aving to go back for 'another tool' when on a 
trouble call.

Just as I left the ship, I told the folks who ordered my supplies, to get 4 
more, and included with the order, the statistical facts on the difference in 
trouble call resolution time on all calls that ended up needing 'cable 
reworking' as based on those with the tool, and those with a lesser tool.

With a multi-cable system environment, (UTP, BNC, Fiber etc mostly) one never 
knew what you'd need til you got there.  Trouble call resolution to get the 
customer back online was extended by as much as 2 hours if the tech didnt ave 
the right tool, at that time (having to go back, get it and/or wait for it to 
be freed up as another was using it).

2 hours.  Think about it.
