I have an Aunt who has a beautifully tempered Russian Blue that PV> she named "Mouse". They visit here every year and one of our PV> discussions over cat names was -what- kind of rodent the _next_ PV> cat would be named after. :) GP> My mom's cat is "Mouse". . . but my personal experience with animal GP> names for cats started at a foster home at age 14, where we had a cat GP> named "Puss," then I had my first cat, & didn't know what to name him, GP> so I just called it "Cat", then my next cat I named "Casey"(actually GP> "K.C.", short for "Kitty Cat"); got another one sort of by Aye, I've done similar naming conventions. When my daughters were growing up they convinced us to take home a scrawny looking kitten (heh, not much of a choice, it was the last kitten in the 'Free Kittens' box. :). That was on a Friday Eve and they spent the next two days getting into arguements over what the cat's name was going to be. My 'then' wife was in a constant state of exasperation over this and made statements like "Put the cat down." and "Leave the cat alone!" (command given during one arguement where the kitten was being pulled in two different directions at ONCE! :). On Sunday night I'd had enough of their spats and stated flat out "The cat's name is T.C.". My wife and daughters looked at me and wanted to know "Why?". I replied "If you _haven't_ noticed, he's coming to the name 'The Cat' more often than any OTHER name you call him." So, _The Cat_ became T.C. for the rest of his time with us. GP> default/accident from a female acquaintance, and didn't want two "cat" GP> names at once(no real reason, just a sudden & inexplicable prejudice), GP> so I named it "Dog"! ROTFLMHO!!!! GP> coloring was so unique and beautiful, but nothing I could think of GP> sounded right for a boy, and then I noticed I was calling him, "Little GP> Buddy" more than anything else, so "Gilligan" it was! Hmmm... My dad talks about the toms that have lived here. There was 'Squeaker', named for the high pitched squeak his mew had, and 'Poncho', a fat-bellied old tom that just up and moved onto the lot. 'Course, his decision _might_ have been due to the fact that there were 5 females gracing the patio floor at the time. GP> The one I have now was named "Pumpkin" by the woman who adopted her, GP> but I've found her to be more of a "street punk" type personality, so I GP> call her "Punkin". . . :) Other odd cat names I've lived with are 'Sassy', a Siamese cat named for her ability to back a 120 lb German Shepard away from his food dish and then eat -her- portion of it (completely disregarding the fact that _her_ dish was full and only a few feet away from his. :), and 'Pepper', a Calico who was named because she had little black spots on her nose that looked like flakes of pepper. I don't consider 'Ewok' an odd name for a cat if you consider the fact that she _did_ look just like one of the Ewoks from Star Wars. GP> I had him neutered, and the rule was to keep him indoors for 4 days -- GP> it broke my heart to watch him at the window, waiting for it to open GP> so he could go out and play! Thats interesting. When I had Rats neutered the receptionist at the Vet's didn't say anything about confinement. Woulda been interesting living in this one-room trailer with a litter box. =8O Meow! Pat & =^..^= .... I said "To neuter or not to neuter?" My tomcat said "Just say NO!" --- EzyBlueWave/2 V2.01b001 00F90258 * Origin: Rats' Place. Pat just lives here to _feed_ me. (1:114/635) .
