After Isabell ripped through here I found myself without power for almost a
week. I came up with a very cheap solution -

2 Solar battery chargers (6 amps each, about 30 bucks)
2 Deep cell / cycle marine batteries (kind of expensive, 70 bucks each)
2 1500 watt inverters (60 bucks each)

Obviously the solar cells charge the batteries that run the inverters. I also
put in a deep cycle charger controlled by a simple contactor to kick in when
sun goes out.

This pays for itself within a year via energy savings. I will e-mail details to
whoever may be interested (including schematics)
