Not to be a prick though most would consider me one, but where is the logic
of setting up a telnet BBS if you don't have the basic foundation and knowledge
of TCP/IP and related technologies?

Yes, it is great and all that you want to put a BBS up, that you want to start
a new trend that died a number of years ago, and using Synchronet is the way to
go, but take a step back, read a book on TCP/IP, understand the technology and
terms and even protocols, so that you won't look half-way foolish.
