I have been experiencing this with out of the box XP.  The initial Sync login 
screen after the login screen takes forever.  I wonder if with modern 
operating systems and bandwidths if we're not overrunning some variable that 
makes the delay seem horrible.  Otherwise I think it's a xp comio problem 
similar to the ones we had back when 95 was new and we needed external io 
drivers for 115200 and up.

An idea perhaps?
