My friend installed something he called a multi media package and it seemed to fix the MP3 situation but then he got in a huff when it wouldn't play most of the video files he wanted it to.. I think he's gone back to stew in Win XP again for a while.. He's one of these 'instant gratification' types and doesn't want to spend a lot of time searching for repair files. In a way I can undestand how it would be annoying to get a 5 CD install set for the newest version of an OS and have one thing after another not work when he's used to them working 'out of the box' from a One CD Win XP install.. I know Linux comes with a lot more software but I suppose he'd say it's lacking a lot of the common basics. Personally though I would put some time into an OS to at least see if it's going to be good even if it does take a while to get it that way. I still run Win 98 so I always have to update a ton of stuff and search for drivers for newer hardware after a fresh install that would work fine without that in Win XP. --- þ SLMR Rob þ Misunderstood and Underestimated...
