I know Windows is usually 'snappier' than DOS because it uses memory a
little better. Running Smart Drive in DOS can make a huge difference
I assume because it's doing pretty much the same thing..
I have no idea what Knoppix does along those lines though..  B)

Knoppix may also be doing some extra work having to read a different
file environment than it's used to..  (Fat 16/32 or NTFS)
