I've >played MPEG audio from time to time and again have no problems. Ogg is nice. It tends to make bigger files than MP3, even at high flow rates, but a lot of people say the sound quality is better. I only play MP3's and Ogg's through the computer so the sound quality there is probably not good enough to pick out really minor differences. I've created files from the same CD in both formats so I am comparing identical setups. My friend has since found what he called a 'multi media package' and said it's working much better now. Whether the package supplies a different player or just new codecs I'm not sure yet.. He's tried multiple versions of Linux over the years but always found them just a little lacking in things he needed but he's sounding really 'up' on Suse 9.3. He said it installed easier than Win XP and does pretty much everything. Getting online took a bit of playing (more-so than any Win version would have) but it wasn't that bad and the rest of it he quite likes so far. This was some full 5 CD set. USB2 support he found wasn't that good. Some things that work 'out of the box' in Win XP worked, only slower, and other things refused to work at all (i.e.. a 2 gig USB thumb/key/jump drive). It's only been a couple of days so he may discover things he's missed so far that improve on this. He's definitely no Linux expert. --- þ SLMR Rob þ How can you tell a politician is lying?
