Thanks for explaining gentoo so well.  Compiling the entire source to a 
linux system always interested me like rock or lfs so stage 1 would be 
a task that I would want to endure someday.  One question did you 
download the source for the packages during the stage 1 install from 
the internet or did you have the source in the .iso file of the distro?
