I've got a Gentoo Linux system running on a VIA chipset equipped motherboard and it runs flawlessly. Even the firewire works good. Which, by the way, is built into the motherboard as well. Gigabyte GA-7VAXP motherboard: VIA KT400 Northbridge 8235 VIA Southbridge VT6306 IEEE 1394 controller PDC20276 ATA133 Promise RAID controller Realtek onboard Audio Realtek onboard 10/100 Ethernet All of the above work great for me under linux, and of course windows (this system is dual boot with WinXP). I put 1GB of DDR400 memory in it and a Geforce 6600GT 128MB AGP 8x card in it when Doom 3 came out. With the Athlon 3000+ cpu I have in the board it gets acceptible performance. Oh and the really fun part is when I installed Unreal Tournament 2004 in my Gentoo partition and got it running under linux with the nvidia drivers ;) Gaming in linux = woohoo! - Ibanez ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ ú ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ The Bit Bucket BBS Http, Telnet, FTP: Address 1: bitbucket.homedns.org Address 2: bitbucket.zapto.org ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ ú ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ --- þ Synchronet þ The BitBucket BBS - bitbucket.homedns.org .
