Providing the kernel versions are the same, all distros contain the same kernel. I've used Slackware for years with VIA chipsets, and found all the support *I* needed (Basically, the VIA audio) /sbin/modprobe via82cxxx_audio There is a driver for the VIA Rhine #/sbin/modprobe via-rhine but as you can see, I don't use it as I have different network hardware. Any distro with an up-to-date kernel should come with this stuff.
