What bothers me the most is DRM and Microsoft seeing yet another way into another industry's wallet. Money is indeed going to kill the music industry. I agree that producing an album is costly, as I have worked with some mini labels in Baltimore. I can see how the thousands we spent could transform into millions on a larger scale. However: 1 - We had no benefit from concerts (or royalties as the label) 2 - We made no money from merchandise like T-Shirts / etc 3 - We made no money from radio play Think for a moment how big the checks are that Clear Channel communications cuts to the major labels. So as Microsoft continues to pressure intel to build DRM into their processors.. and continues to embed it in their operating systems.. I'll continue to use my FC3/AMD Linux box and listen to whatever I want while I complain about it. "we" won on the mp3 front because the industry caved in on licensing it.. Ipod is proof. I'll pay a quarter to listen to a song in a jukebox .. I'll gladly pay a quarter to download it and keep it forever. As far as I can see this will only bring more people to try Linux in the home.. and this is a good thing :) "The box said Windows XP or better so I installed Linux ...
