Regardless of your geographical location your bandwidth comes from one of about 8 major carriers. All of them to my knowledge are cracking down on that sort of activity within their network. It will only be a matter of time before media shares find themselves scarce. This stinks because it punishes those who use them legally, as they were intended. Torrents were devised as a way to share and distribute Linux. You can download for as low as $0.25 per mp3 , sometimes less depending on the site you are using. I was all for media shares because they would make music reasonable again and force bands to tour more than spit out cookie cutter album releases. This has happened to a degree.. Comcast and UUNet actually watch your traffic. I have a friend who has a letter from comcast on his wall warning him to stop pirating, and they gave date time filename and file size. We did benefit from the media shares .. but its time to bite the bullet .. imho a quarter is cheap peace of mind. --- þ Synchronet þ DNS Dreams BBS - telnet://dnsdreams.com .
