What browser are you using? More importantly, what is it proporting to be to
the remote server?

Most sites that allow paid downloads will also stop things like lynx, wget, or
similar file fetching utilities useful in scripting mass downloads. It could
simply be that the site is not seeing your browser as acceptable when you go to
download. 

I.e. Konqueror may not get you through.. 

I have no issues downloading from mp3.com and similar with an out of the box
FC3 installation using firefox.
