Subj : fido utils To : All From : Kcvwdoc Date : Sat Jun 18 2005 11:18 am What are the best fido mailers, nodelist compiler's etc. Out there that you guys are using with sbbsecho. I know of Binkd. Another ? is I'm having trouble figuring out the correct syntax to change ownership of my /sbbs I have read chown man page and it's written honestly above my head. I'm not a programmer. I know man is my friend. But some of them assume you already know. I have to humble myself here. Back in the day when Synchronet first came out. I ran a Dos system then. And had very little problems. Even ran it under OS/2 and really loved it. But I want to move on past the windoz era and learn how to successfully run Synchronet under linux. So if you would be kind enough to help me get started. I would really appreciate it. I know you guy's get irritated sometimes by what you consider stupid ?'s. I feel that way when asked ?'s sometimes in my field of work. So I do understand. My 3 stumbling blocks at this point is gaining ownership of /sbbs and what dir on my win system do I need to move over to the linux box to maintain my user's info etc. Also do you feel the firewall in my router is secure enough or do i need to setup the mandrake shorewall fire wall as well? And I'm also sure there are some unsafe services I could turn off too. But not sure which ones. Enough for now. Thank you in advance. Have a grateful day, Rick --- þ Synchronet þ Friends of Bill W BBS http://friendsofbillw.dyndns.org .
