The trailing dot's when I saw that after a long night with no sleep it registered in my brain that it was refering to the " ../src/sbbs3 " etc etc. what does the dot do in the command line? I need to learn all I can about the linux commands I need to find a man page on how to change the ownership of /sbbs to me instead of /root I think it is chown but don't know the proper syntx. Thanks againg for all the help and hard work. Have a grateful day, Rick --- þ Synchronet þ Friends of Bill W BBS http://friendsofbillw.dyndns.org .
