Ok, the interfaces are brought up in /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 which is pretty straigntforward. In earlier versions it set up a series of variables (NETMASK, IP, etc) at the top and then later on, called /sbin/ifconfig with the variables as arguments. You only needed to change the variable assignments at the top to reconfigure your interface. As of 10.x, there is now an additional file called /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf that contains the variable-setting statements for multiple interfaces (eth0 thru eth3). Edit /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf and change the parameters for the interface. When you reboot, it should come up fine, but until the next reboot you will have to take down the interface manually, and restart it manually as well. Or you could also su up to root and run /sbin/netconfig instead.... --- þ Synchronet þ Linus is a regular at The ANJO BBS. No, Linus Brathwaite! .
