I just installed this distro this evening.  So far it runs like a champ. 
Ubuntu is based on Debian and installs Gnome as the base desktop.  After
installing, I did a quick change to the apt-get source.list file and then
installed KDE since I prefer it to Gnome.  

I've never used any Debian based distro before, and so far am impressed with
the ease of use and installation of Ubuntu.  It recognized everything
associated with my PC during installation, including my network.  

Anyone else tried it yet?
