well.. i like anything that's debian based.. even debian straight up 
*unstable* of course for home use and *stable* for servers and such. also 
Mandrake 10.1 or later is great too. that would be redhat based and a good 
starting point for someone. but if you were happy with knoppix you can do the 
hard drive install.

as for tiger.. um unless you're running a Macintosh platform you won't be 
able to install that.
