I tried RH, just never liked it... Gave Mandrake, SusE a shot... found them too much like RH... Gave Gentoo a shot... after numerous failures on the install finally got it working, but then... hated it. Have been running Debian for quite a few years now... 5 in all... I prefer it over the rest... Slackware is still a good distro if you want to learn the real core of Linux. Debian if you want a system thats easy to manage, works with most every older hardware their is... its not updated nearly as often, so, its a little behind the times, but, its rock stable... That is unless you want to be daring and run the unstable or the "Testing" versions... Debian is not nearly as easy to setup as most of the others... But once you figure out the install and get to the internal workings, figure out apt... its much easier to deal with than any of the others. Support is pretty good for it also...
