While I was making an attempt to setup slackware on my laptop, which is being a total PITA, I can install and setup 2.2.16 no prob, sans X, (the closest I've gotten is 380x400 res), anyway, I'm trying to upgrade, after upgrade, the kernel won't finish loading, some card manager error. I'm d/l the ver 10 iso and am going to try a fresh install. Back to my original point, at times I was faced with just a basic linux system and I would try and $less thisfile and $less thatfile all I got was errors, than I tried $more and voila I could read /etc/fstab and such. so at that time in the /sbin folder there really wasn't less at all. I know I know, I used vi to view files too, but habit has me typing $less more and more. *Lord Eros* .
