If you have the compat-4 distribution set installed, the answer is "most likely" 4.4 -> 4.9 is more likely to work than 4.4 -> 5.3 though... mostly due to shared lib issues. There is a file whose name I can't remember in /etc (libmap.conf?) that can be used to force the 4.x binaries to load the correcy libs on 5.x (Mostly, it's a pthread issue... pthreads are done using libpthread.so on 5.x and libc_r on 4.x) --- þ Synchronet þ ``Penguins make tasty snacks'' .
