I read a book (sci-fi, name and author long forgotten) about a planet of 
LGM who were stuck in the stone-age because their religeon considered the 
circle "too holy" to be used.  This eliminated the use of the wheel.

Some enterprising mathematician on a passing starship pointed out that a 
triangular wheel *would* roll perfectly well and smoothly too, if the 
wheel was loosely fitted to a triangular axle with a triangular hole, or 
something like that.

At the time, I studied the explanation carefully.  I didn't actually build 
a working model, but it seemed to me like it would work as described.  

Anyone know about the legitimacy of a *working* triangular wheel?
