i am uncertain what it would be. i was using filezilla (the opensource ftp 
client: filezilla.sourceforge.net), at the time and it was a translated error 
message so it could have been the same i don't know. it was a socket error, 
which was the first time it had ever happened to me using that client.

odder still is norton internet worm protection incessantly gripes that it has 
successfully blocked worm intrusion attempts on port 21 in filezilla.exe, but 
when i scan the exe and the network i see nothing. it's really rather 
confusing. the filezilla i installed is from the net and it's clean. i'm sure 
that it's clean.

and it worked the week prior (i only commute to work once a week due to 
distance) without any issue.

i dunno.
