When i turn it on i get to the GRUB screen, and can select either DM>Two things come to mind right off: DM>* The processor has experienced a thermal event shutdown. (Overheated) DM>* The processor is dieing -- these are the same symptoms I had a few years >ago when I had an AMD chip go south on me after it got zapped during a >thunderstorm. Of course, it could also be your motherboard as well. DM>What type of machine is it? Many manufacturers send a diagnostic disk (CD) >you can run to put all the components through a pretty good stress test. Sounds like it doesn't need any more stress than it already has.. B) I thought thermal as well. Sometimes people will set the shut down from overheat temp so low that the processor hits it almost immediately but he said he wiped the bios settings and, if it were a setting, it would have to be at a bios level to effect things that early.. Hopefully he thought to try Bios Defaults rather than Enhanced Bios Settings in case something there is acting up.. --- þ SLMR Rob þ Path not found... Help!
