Do you have multiple sticks? In one of my computers, I had (2) 512's and my computer started acting up... removed one, still had problems, but worse, so, swapped them and everything worked again... Just a thought... Also, some ram does have warranties that come with it... I have some Kingston here that has a 1 year warranty. The stick from the above scenerio, Crucial, also had a warranty, and I was able to get it replaced.
