Subj : Bye-bye Win2k. To : DAEMON From : ROBERT WOLFE Date : Thu May 19 2005 09:59 am -> Well, I'm flat out of patience with MS operating systems. Win2K -> just happily rearranged the IP addresses of every one of my network -> components, making them unusable with the BBS setup and the rest of -> the home network. -> Rather than go to the bother of moving everything off the drive, -> reinstalling Win2k, moving everything back again, and then waiting -> for this to inevitably happen again, I'm going to pull-in some Linux -> distros and use one of the backup computers to learn the ropes with -> it. In the meantime, incoming connections to the BBS probably won't -> be happening. -> I've been fighting with this IP configuration for 2 days now, and -> it just keeps changing itself to whatever it feels like, no matter -> what I do, and it's a WAY too familiar feeling. -> *grin* So be warned... I'm probably going to have a host of -> questions along the way. Dude, you know, I am local to you, and I and a few friends get together about twice a month or so here at my place in Lancaster to discuss things Linux. If you'd be interested in joining us for some pizza, wings and Linux talk (and maybe a little bit of Malibu rum and lemonade to wash it all down ) give me a call or email me at robert.wolfe@robertwolfe.org. --- þ wcQWK 6.0 ÷ Buffalo Online * Lancaster NY * bufonline.dyndns.org .
