Is your router running as a DHCP server? Do you have 2 routers running and doing DHCP at the same time? Do you have a server? Is it running DHCP? It sounds like you have a couple of DHCP servers and your computer doesn't know which one to use. For info... I have a DSL modem/router that does have DHCP capabilites, and I also have a server, Win2003 AS, that is setup to do DHCP... I don't know why, but my modem's DHCP which I know was turned off, was suddenly alive again... My poor computers were so confused... it wasn't until I kept track of the ipconfig /all command and saw that 192.168.1.5 would be shown as the DHCP server when things worked fine. When things got screwy, the 192.168.1.254 was showing up that I realized what was going on. I KNOW I turned off the router's DHCP. :) Just a couple of questions to you. :) As for the Linux side of the world, fire away! Debian or Slackware or any distro based off of them I can help with... Red Hat, Mandrake, etc... You'll have to find someone else to help. :) Sniper Killed In Action BBS, telnet://kiabbs.org Home of the Unofficial SynchroNet Support Network. download the info pack at any of the below sites: http://www.chcomputer.net/USSNET.ZIP or http://www.ussnet.org ....
