Yup, when I assumed the lady at bellsouth got the order correctly, logging into their website and telling it to add caller ID deluxe to my 2nd line had the caller-ID working in 2-3 days... Very likely that if the new line is just setup, they have the line turned on, but some of the features won't be activated for a few more days.... Either way, I'd call your phone provider and verify first that you are in fact supposed to have the service on that phone line working at the time... Though right now I'm using Voicepulse via Cable modem. Free long distance, can have as many numbers as I want in as many cities as I need for a few extra dollers per phone number... Also has some nice features that can only be found on voice over IP lines, like forward your call based upon the incoming phone number... Eg. if my sister calls me, I can forward her call automatically to her step-daughter, or once I answer the phone, I press flash, *98, wait for the dial tone, dial her step daugher's phone #, hear a tone and then hang up the phone. My sister can then talk to her step-daughter as long as she wants for free as if she called her directly... I can also have the phone appear busy or disconnnected when bill-collectors call... So many features that make normal phone lines seem so in-adaquate.... I've seen some VOIP setups that pretty much let you have several phone lines and use regular phones kindoffice phone system, where you can transfer, hold, etc... --- þ Synchronet þ mainline - mlc-group.net .
