Subj : Caller ID problems? To : All From : Poindexter Fortran Date : Sun May 08 2005 09:45 pm Anyone here run into caller ID issues on your telephone lines? Most of my lines are existing wiring, but I have one new line I've run myself using Cat5 cable. I recently moved my DSL over to the primary line so it looks like this: network - NI - DSL splitter:Network DSL Splitter:Voice - old voice runs + blu/white - RJ11 #1 DSL Splitter: Data - org/white - RJ11 #2 Blu/white and Org/white are the first two pairs of a Cat5 cable, wired tip/ring to two separate RJ-11 cables. The old voice runs work fine and have Caller ID coming across, and DSL works like a charm, but the new voice line on the Cat5 isn't delivering Caller ID correctly. Nothing comes across on the display. I tested my phone by moving it to one of the old runs, and it gets caller ID, but when plugged into the new line, no CID. I checked polarity, and it's good on the troublesome jack. The voice line is good, no quality problems, no scratchiness, no gain issues - nothing to indicate a wiring fault anywhere. Anyone heard of a similar problem? --pF --- MultiMail/Win32 v0.46 þ Synchronet þ realitycheckBBS -- since 1991, more or less... .
