Subj : Computer Shuts down

OK, i have a great computer, but when i boot it gets a part of the way and
shuts itself down, and turns on a internal alarm. The farthest i got was to the
login in screen in safemode and then it shut down. I checked, all the wires and
the ROM chips, everything is in place, what would cause this and how would it
be fixed (BTW i check for virus on the BIOS none to be found, and live-cd boot
doesn't work either, go to the linux kernal load on knoppix.
